BWOF 7-2009

Burda Tunic, construction was very simple, easy and you don't even need the instructions. Pattern only has two pieces with shirring on the bodice...you can't get any simplier than this.

Details:
I used a print silk charmeuse for the fabric. The first thing I did was to press under and stitch down the top edge of both back & front of the fabric by 3/8" to form an elastic casing.....I stitched 17 rows of shirring on the bodice front and back starting right below the casing.... The pattern has markings for only 9 rows.. but I guess that is for someone with a smaller bustline...I spaced the shirring rows apart by 5/8" apart...for me this provides more support in the bust area....
When the shirring was completed I inserted elastic in the casing front and back and stitch at both ends to secure....This gives it support and makes it more secure so it doesn't fall down...I stitched the front and back together at the sides and serged the unfinished seam allowance on the sides...
I trimmed off 5 inches from the bottom hem, serged, turned under and top stitched.....Construction from start to finish took about 5 hours...

That is Hawt!!! Love it. I so want to do a blouse with shirring, but still trying to wrap my mind around actually doing it. It looks tedious.

Thanks everyone for your lovely comment....

@sheila, it is tedious and you have to go really slow when sewing, but at the end its worth....give it a try....

I totally missed this top after getting excited about all the others. I just learned to do shirring on the tunic from this issue and love the effect! I am making this before the weekend is through!!!!!!!! Your fabric is gorgeous.
