Pattern Description: Misses shirt with front gathers, princess seams, top stitching, collar band, collar with sleeve & bodice front variations.

This is a really great pattern. I love the fact that in addition to selecting your size you have an option of selecting the cup size for the bodice which worked out great for me. I didn't have to do any alterations.

Fabric: Italian diagonal striped stretch shirting.
This fabric is very soft and feels good against the skin. Its not a just a plain white it has very fine diagonal stripes pattern on the fabric.
Fabric color: White

The instructions were super easy to follow. All the pieces matched together with ease. The only area where I ran into a little problem was the sleeve vent couldn't quite figure out how to put it on so I pulled apart one of my older dress shirt to see how it was done....

I really liked this pattern. It has a good fit and for me it didn't require any alteration. I will definitely make this one again. I like the view A with the bubble sleeves for the spring.
I highly recommend this pattern....This pattern will be a great addition to my spring wardrobe.

Another Cardigan Set

Misses quick and easy cardigan in three lengths, loose fitting with front and back gathers, yoke and sleeve are in one, band and collar are in one and the option of two different hemlines.

Fabric: Poly knit rib with very little stretch
Color: Mustard yellow
Size: Large
Notion: just thread, I didn't need any stabilizer at the edges or hems since this fabric is a sturdy knit with very little stretch.

I really like this pattern. It was a easy and quick sew. Not too many pieces to this pattern. The pieces matched perfectly together for an fast and easy sew.

The only part of this garment that I didnt care for was the finish of the band. The instructions said to finish the edge of the band with a 5/8 narrow hem. I put it on after doing this but it seemed too bulky at the back of the neck where the band folds. So what I did was fold the hemmed edge of the band to the inside so it lines up with the seam edge of the cardigan where the band joins the cardigan. I top stitched it all the way around as close to the ditch as possible. I then I gave it a good press to flatten it down and create a fold in the band. This was much better after trying it on the band folded nicely with no bulk.
This is my second time making this tank top. This has become one of my favorites because of the front darts which gives the garment a good fit.

What a Bargain!

A friend of mine told me one branch of our local fabric store ( Sav A Thon) is going out of business. So on Saturday I stopped by. Oh my goodness! The store was a mad house. Folks were holding onto theirs fabrics for dear life and if you even ventured too close to their shopping carts to take a peek you would get a dirty look....lol......The sale is amazing. Majority of the fabrics are $1.00 - 1.99 a yard. You can even purchase rolls of fabric. The deal is 2 rolls for $10.00. Most of the rolls have a minimum of 4 yards left on them. So far I have made two trip to this store. Once on Saturday and again on Tuesday evening. Here is what I lugged out of the store with. This will not be my last trip. I have to take advantage of the quality fabric at a low price. Bargains like this don't come along too often.

1 - Olive, rust, cream, yellow and brown wool with a loose weave 4 yards @ $1.99 a yard - 57 width
2 - Baby blue light weight denim fabric - 3 1/2 @1.99 a yard - 57 width
3- Teal houndstooth double knit - 4 yard @ 1.50 a yard - 57 width
4 - Turquoise & mustard yellow ribbed poly knit 3 1/2 yard @ 1.99 - 57 width

I bought both of these for $10.00.

1 - Turquoise and yellow boucle type fabric- 4 yards - 60 width
2 -Grey, black, red, purple, tan wool suiting - 5 yards - 57 width

1 & 2: Silk Charmeuse mutli colored print - 2 yards each @ 1.99 - 57 width

Vogue 1058

Misses Cardigan and Tank Top, set in sleeves and shaped hemline, front ties and tank top has darts

Color - Cream White

Fabric - Poly Rib Knit

Sizing - This pattern has several different size options. I cut a size D with no FBA. The fabric was very stretchy so it wasn't needed

Were the instructions easy to follow - Yes, until it was time to put on the tie ends. It became tricky I had to read the instructions a few times and look closely at the picture. Eventually I figured it out. The ties ends are cut in four pieces The first set of tie ends are attached to the bodice from the wrong side of the garment with the raw seam allowance facing out on the bodice right side. The second set is then attached to the outside of the bodice.

Did I like the pattern -Yes, the pattern is sized correctly, the pieces matched together without any issues and I didn't have to do any alteration.

Would you sew it again - Most definitely

Conclusion - If you are looking for an easy and fast sweater set this is the pattern for you

TGIF!!!

Wow! I am so glad its Friday. If I had wake up extra early another day to go to work I don't think I could do it. I probably would have to call out sick or something. This cold weather is not helping either. Its zapping my energy and my motivation to go to work or sew. But there is a little light at the end of the tunnel. The temperature will be rising to the 40s - 50s over the weekend and the next couple of days per the weatherman... and I look forward to itJumping Smileys

Now on to the sewing....this weekend I plan on starting on this project as part of my spring wardrobe. I want to work on view D. I feel the need to add more blouses and shirt to my wardrobe for work. For this project I will work in pieces taking my time and being careful not to rush. I dont want to waste any of my good fabric because of rushing. In between working on this shirt I plan on completing a few UFO that I have been neglecting for the past month or so....lol..
